anzac day broshurs

In room 5 we made broshurs about anzac soilders te Rauangaanga mahuta
Te Rauangaanga Mahuta was part of a tribe that did not want to fight because Te Puea Herangi the tribe princess said “we shall not fight another war” when the NZ soldiers kept on dying the NZ army was running out of men and needed more men to fight the NZ army. As british took over the Maori land
knowing how violent and dangerous the war was the army went straight to the Maori people so less white people could go.
They forced the maori to go to war and if they said no they would get arrested and sent to training grounds in auckland
And then sent to war.
On the piece of paper he signed they asked his age he wrote “unknown, about 20 years”
He was 16.
Te Rauangaanga Mahuta was single and he had no parents he was an orphan and he has never seen his parents before.
